Pitch Perfect

In the 19th issue of Advanced Photoshop, you'll find a double page illustration of mine to illustrate Jason Arber's written article on the subject of getting your design agency/freelance business together. Which kind of makes it a Children of Finland project, even though we were commissoned separately.

As you can see, the whole idea stemmed from the title, and I thought that tuning the guitar, and having all the various elements floating out of the strings would be a slightly different way to interpret this oft-covered theme. Naturally it's a deliberate attempt to do something summery with a hint of (soft) cheese, but I must say I'm pretty pleased with how the photographic elements combined with the fairly loose illustration.

Little White Lies Contribution

Little White Lies is all about Truth and Movies, and they asked nicely if I'd like to contribute a couple of illustrations for their 6th issue. I said yes I would thanks, and these portraits of Catherine Keener and John Goodman were the result...

Audiosurgeon Launch!

Well it seems like we've been planning this forever, but I'm very pleased to announce that the first Audiosurgeon Podcast has finally gone live! Myself, Jason Arber, Richard May, Alex Wiltshire and Rina Cheung had a lot of fun doing it, and (hopefully) that comes across in the recording!

Rich is struck/bemused by one of Arber's insightful movie observations

As well as discussions about movies and games, it's been great to feature some of the music that we wax lyrical about over at Pixelsurgeon. Thanks to everyone who gave us permission to include all the music. Our big exclusive for this one is an interview with DJ Nu-Mark from Jurassic 5, who have a new album coming out in July.

It feels like a natural extension to what we were doing already, but it's also an exciting time for us, and opens up numerous possibilities. Anyway, go listen!

From the (Digital) Sketchbook

It's not often that I stick to black and white, but I quite like how this turned out. It's all about the taste (even if it isn't the colour!) of summer:

Also be sure to check out my second interview with the lovely Imogen Heap over at Pixelsurgeon.
