Brand-building for Computer Arts Projects

In the latest issue of Computer Arts Projects (87), you'll find my article all about how some of the best agencies have developed their own brands, even though most of their time is taken up by designing brands for others.

Huge thanks to Rex and Joyce from Inksurge, Matt Powell from Profero, Laura Jordan Bambach from Glue, Alun Shooter from The District, Carl Rush from Crush, Anne Brassier from Airside, Angus Mackinnon from NWYH, Mark Graham and Ben Beach from ILovedust and Tom Muller from Kleber for making it happen...

Reeve becomes Routh

Superman is probably my favourite movie of all time, so it was with mixed feelings of dread and excitement that I went along to see Bryan Singer's Superman Returns. Especially knowing that he chose to continue in the same vein as the first two movies, rather than taking things in a different direction. Thankfully though, I really think he's done a great job, and it manages to work as a continuation, without feeling totally trapped by Richard Donner's striking version, or within a different era.

If you want, you'll be able to hear more of my thoughts/rantings/drivel in the next Audiosurgeon podcast, which should be available in the next few days, but I thought it would be worth showing this piece again here. Brandon Routh will never embody the character as much as Christopher Reeve did for the six year old me, but I think he does really well in the role all the same...

Computer Arts Tutorial

Computer Arts thought that the techniques I used to create my Ramboy illustration would make for an interesting tutorial, so in the latest issue you'll find a few pages explaining how I combine Photoshop and Painter in my illustrations. So, thanks again to Preloaded for inviting me to contribute to the Son of Rambo project in the first instance...
