Contribution to Official Painter Magazine Launch Issue

There's a brand new magazine in town, and I'm pleased to say that I was invited to participate in the first issue. It's great to see Painter getting more coverage like this, even if as an official magazine it can't help but blow it's own trumpet a little!

I was asked to produce a piece that would demonstrate the various layer options and modes to be found within Painter, which are similar to those found in Photoshop, but with a few extra bespoke features. This idea came when a slip of the wrist turned a sketch of a magazine into a wave:

The concept was perfect for the tutorial because I could layer up the scanned and artificial textures, play with the wet watercolour layers, apply strong highlights and shadows etc etc...

Computer Arts 133 (& Assorted Other Bits)

In the lastest issue you'll find a 'lil one-pager from me all about creating super-large posters on your humble A4 printer via Illustrator. And as you might expect I needed to create an image to go with it...

I realise updates have been relatively slim on here, but more stuff is on the way real soon (some of which I'm not able to mention just yet) with what's been an incredibly busy year for me so far. So stay logged on. Or something.

ps I have also just updated the design section with some recent work for Weetabix/Disney amongst other things, so go take a look see.

Audiosurgeon 007: The (Even More) New Music Issue

The brand new Audiosurgeon podcast has finally arrived, and features over 20 minutes of uninterrupted new music from the likes of Amon Tobin (photo by Paul Labonté/Sekondhand Projects below), The Cinematic Orchestra, 4hero, Charlotte Hatherley and more.

We told you we'd be back. Well maybe we didn't. Although we can only apologise to all our listeners for how long it's taken us. We hope you'll both forgive us. We actually recorded some new discussions at Christmas, but somehow, launching a 'best of 2006' podcast when it's already February 2007 just didn't seem like the best plan.

So whilst we promise we will all try and get in the same room as eachother in the near future, for now we bring you something a little different. I put together over 20 minutes worth of uninterrupted music for you to gorge your ears on. And it's all new, coming soon, or only just slightly not quite new. In fact, you'll probably prefer it to the lengthy wittering session that we normally expose you too. So enjoy it while you can, 'cos we'll be wittering on and on about the usual stuff again real soon!
