Tree and Hand Studies

There's a new issue of the official Corel Painter magazine on the shelves, and within its shiny pages you'll find a hand study of mine using the chalk brushes, and various examples of trees. And if you've never tried it, I can highly recommend catching up with old Bob Ross clips on YouTube, like this one. It really is one of the most relaxing things ever. The joy of painting indeed...

Strength of Character

I had fun last month getting some of the best character and toy designers, like, ever, to dispense some words of wisdom for the new issue of Computer Arts Projects, which is dedicated to the subject. Props to Jeremyville, Alex Amelines, Samuel and Arturo at Friendswithyou, Ian Stevenson, Christopher Lee, Tim Tsui, Alexis West, Mike and Katie at TADO, Lillian Chan and Nicole Rosano at Mimoco, Ryosuke Tei and Chip Mosher. What a bunch of lovely, er, characters...

Superb New Networking Portfolio Site

Just when I thought I had enough portfolios out there, I was invited to the rather lovely Behance this week, so I thought I'd take a look see. I have to say, it's an extremely impressive networking site - easy to use, flexible, intuitive; I thoroughly recommend checking it out if you're one of those 'creative types' yourself. You'll find me at behance.net/samgilbey.

Thanks also to the team for featuring my first uploaded project...
